W&R started producing qulaity brass models in the early 1980s. They were considered one of the best for overall quality and detail. The principle Bill McCowan was, and is, known for his thoroughness and attention to detail.
His plan was never to do large runs like many importers, where they frequently import a version of nearly every EMD E8A. Instead, he concentrated on steam, heavyweight passenger cars and cabooses. He did exhaustive research on the prototype to insure correctness, even down to the paint. His builders always did excellent work and the models are genuine works of art. W&R sadly closed their doors in 2014 but their models are still highly collectible and sought after.
